If I tell you how long this has been on my heart…
You wouldn’t dare to believe me. But, here goes. And, I promise, this isn’t a sermon. Just what I’ve been thinking and how I’m feeling…
For the past month have been asking myself, and everyone else if, sometimes we pray for the wrong things, which we do. I’ve been guilty of it just as much as the next person. So let’s take a look at this. In the second part of James 4:2b, “quarrels and fights” in our lives are referred to. These personal struggles are primarily the result of passion that is so strong that it motivates to let feelings get out of control. Some get so far out of control due to these passions that one may have desires to murder or kill others. (Which leads me to another thing…but, soon.) In the eyes of God, this classifies one as a murderer. The murder does not have to be physically committed for Him to consider one a murderer. (Check I John 3:15.)
If one cannot prevent these “quarrels and fights” it is his own fault. When things go left one will always, always, always resort to saying, “The devil made me do it.” but, really, the devil only gave a push. That one always had that power to refrain and resist that temptation. Man is the one who allows Satan to enter his life only to have it turned upside down.
The things one wants most does the least good and what’s needed the most is not requested. Those with attitudes and lustful desires will not ask for wisdom, patience, love, peace or other spiritual traits. Prayers are unanswered because the wrong things are unprayed!!! Also, many prayers are unanswered because the wrong things are prayed for. “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” (James 4:3) And one must remember that pleasures are only temporary and could be considered instant gratification and that gets one NOWHERE!!! Selfishness and wrongdoing shut the door of prayer. If one’s prayers are for things that gratify his desires, his prayers are selfish. God will not answer selfish prayers…The correct way to pray is with the attitude of not my will but “Thy will be done.” (Matther 6:10)
Much more tomorrow but, for now marinate on that, sucka!!!
